Anime/Manga Genres

To clear up things a little bit, here are some of the manga/anime genre, the most basic ones to the more complicated ones.

1. Shonen, for guys, no romance, or only a little bit of romance, mostly racing genre and battles in them. Example: Fairytail, YGO, Pokemon, most mainstream and popular ones.

2. Shojo: anime/manga for girls, aimed at girls. Plus lots of romance in it, as opposed to shonen. Examples: Sailor Moon, and Card Captor Sakura.

3. Smutt genre: a variant in the shojo genre: difference is: lots of sex in there, of course.

4. Yuri: Girl/Girl love, lesbian love or however you wanna call it.

5. Yaoi: Guy/Guy or Male/Male love... love and romance and sex between two males so to speak. Not a fan of this genre, so yea dunno that many titles in it.

Awww, you forgot to add Yaoi! XD
Although..
For yuri, there is also Shoujo ai, which is a lesser form of Yuri, mostly more romance between to females.
For yaoi, it's more sexual and romantic relationships with two males.
While Shounen ai is the romance between to males.
