Fuushigi Yuugi
I'll provide a short summary for fuushigi yuugi. So Miaka entered a world of magic when she came across a book and became the priestess, in the ancient world of China. On the other hand, her friend Yui became the evil priestess she had to face. Her once friend became her ennemy. She had 7 protectors and was admired by all of them. Miaka loved Tamahome, thus creating a love triangle between Tamahome, Hotorori and herself. Thoughts: I didn't really like Miaka myself a damsel in distress, always depending on guys to rescue her. A classic Sailormoonesque shojo.

Re: Fuushigi Yuugi
I loved this manga!
Sadly, the library only stocked the first six mangas, but I intend to buy the rest in the future.
I thought it had a lot of humour.
But I do agree, the heroines always need saving, it is much more refreshing if it is the other way round sometimes.

Well, I didn't think it was humorous, I thought it was really dramatic. XD

I'm not sure. The way they introduced the characters with comical entries. It's hard to explain.
But the story did get more serious later on with Miaka's friend entering the world, and made the plot more serious.

Well yeah, I don't like Miaka anyway, because she was just a damsel in distress without any strongwill at all.MoonCookieChan wrote:I'm not sure. The way they introduced the characters with comical entries. It's hard to explain.

Always needed protecting, rescuing. XD In fact, I kinda really hated miaka, I thought she was way weaker than her friend Yuui.MoonCookieChan wrote:She does go against my feminist instincts sometimes. -.-

Re: Fuushigi Yuugi
Yeah, but then even Yuui jumped into the book to save her.
Miaka needs a bit more of a spine, I prefer strong female characters in mangas, such as Kyoko from Skip! Beat. She's not really a strong character, but isn't annoyingly helpless.

Re: Fuushigi Yuugi
that's true. XD Yuui was by far, a stronger character than Miaka. XD But she loved Tamahome too, and tried to steal him away from miaka and vying for his attentions and stuff. so yeah. XDMoonCookieChan wrote:Yeah, but then even Yuui jumped into the book to save her.

Re: Fuushigi Yuugi
yep. XD She tried to compete with Miaka for Tamahome's attentions. She grew seriously so jealous that she went as far as doing some pretty awful stuff to her childhood friend. At one point, she ceased being friends with Miaka altogether, so yeah.MoonCookieChan wrote:I haven't read that far.. She seriously did that?

Re: Fuushigi Yuugi
That sounds pretty interesting, I'll have to try and purchase some more of the manga.
Have you read the prequal to Fuushigi Yuugi as well?

Re: Fuushigi Yuugi
Fushigi Yuugi Genbu Kaiden, not really a prequal, but the first Priestess spin off series.

Re: Fuushigi Yuugi
Ok then, might suit my taste. You said it was a spinoff right? Well, usually spinoffs are bad quality and just imitations of the original, but yeah.MoonCookieChan wrote:I thought there was about the same amount as Fuushigi Yuugi, maybe slightly less.

Yep, all there. The main male character though (urgh, I always forget names >.<) has this mark which changes him back and forth into a woman or a man. That was pretty strange, but funny. xD
Re: Fuushigi Yuugi
are you talking about ranma, because no guy in Fushigi Yuugi does that, at least, not from what I've seen.MoonCookieChan wrote:Naiwen wrote:oh I see, more intense too? what about the magic and everything still there?MoonCookieChan wrote:I thought it was pretty good, maybe less drama though, and perhaps more serious.
