Red River
Red River, a shojo, smutt genre I read not so long ago. Was a about a Japanese girl who got blasted back in ancient egypt. And the main guy, an egyptian prince fell in love with her, so he protected her against political intrigues and the dowager empress's machinations and other stuff, so yeah. Lots of sex of course. Why I liked it: because it was set in Egypt, a country I really am fascinated with. I mean, just wow.

if you're really into sex and romance, then that's for you, if not, then that's not for you.

Re: Red River
Lol! I loved page seven footnote of 'Onee-Chan' - "Onee-Chan means older sister, but you already knew that, you crazed otaku, you." xD
Just finished the first chapter, and it's quite good! I'm going to read a few more chapters later. It's a little like Fushigi Yuugi so far from what I can tell.

Re: Red River
I'm having trouble speaking Japanese to read it yet.
But I requested a children's Kanji book from the library. Start with the basic. :|

Wow, I haven't thought that you'd like it so much. XDD I mean, I wasn't so enraptured by it myself. XDD I liked Fushigi Yuugi more, to be honest.MoonCookieChan wrote:I feel like a moron. XD
Anyway, read up to chapter four. It's good so far!

Re: Red River
Well, I think it's okay. It's a little hard to get into, there aren't many funny parts, and not much emotional involvement, but I think the storyline is good.
Fushigi Yuuhi is better, but I still think it's really similar to Red River. o.O

Re: Red River
oh, so you like funny animes more? than I'd suggest something like: ouran host club (I think you already read that). I'm racking my brains to think of something for you, I can't think of any right now off the top of my head.MoonCookieChan wrote:Well, I think it's okay. Re: Red River
Yep, I read that. It's one of my favourites. ^^
I like shojos which are light-hearted and make you laugh a lot, and usually have a female main character (because she is more relatable).

Re: Red River
Then you'd probably like Kaitou Jeanne. Jeanne is a modern Japanese girl who's main job is to steal paintings or canvas or however you wanna call those. Why would she steal paintings? Because there are evil spirits inside the painting, so she got to "pin" them with a special dart, to make the malicious spirits evaporate and vanish from the canvas, so yeah. That's the story, there's of course, love triangles and other intrigues. look it up if that aroused your curiosity.MoonCookieChan wrote:Yep, I read that. It's one of my favourites. ^^

Re: Red River
Thank you! I'll watch the first episode in subbed, then read it.
Read up to chapter 12 in Red River. It's good, but it's lacking a little something to the plot...

Re: Red River
I do agree that its a classical shojo and no much depth. XDD Not much meat on the bones either. And oh yeah, as you probably figured out already, Kaitou Jeanne's a magical girl genre. XDMoonCookieChan wrote:Thank you! I'll watch the first episode in subbed, then read it.

Re: Red River
I've never watched a magical girl anime before, but I've got really stuck into this anime, I'm on episode 19 so far.
Thanks for the reccommendation, it's a great series! ^^
Red River looks like it was set in the 80s or 90s, because the style of clothing looks old fashioned (high trousers and checked shirts).

Re: Red River
The main character (forgot her name >.<) had this chequered t-shirt with dungarees.
That is 80s/90s style without a doubt. Or it's the new fashion...
